Henrik Åström is an award-winning composer, multi-instrumentalist and founder of the music production company A-Stream Productions. His music features original palettes of sound and instrumentation for each project. He often performs and orchestrates his own film scores, and plays piano, electric and acoustic guitars, and percussion. He has a distinct style of blending orchestra with guitars and synthesized instruments, and instinctively adds elements of folk and contemporary music.
Originally from Sweden, Åström ran the successful recording studio A-Stream Studio in Stockholm between 2002-2012, where he worked as a music producer for bands, orchestras and a wide range of soloists, choirs and ensembles. He also composed experimental theatre music for the First Physical Theatre Company in South Africa, acclaimed Swedish butoh dancer and choreographer Frauke, and Los Angeles Movement Arts.
After relocating to the US, he composed original film scores for a great number of filmmakers, including acclaimed directors Dan Zukovic (director of the cult classic ‘The Last Big Thing’ starring Mark Ruffalo), Ian McCrudden (Grammy award nominated for ’Anita O' Day - The Life of A Jazz Singer’) and Alison Parker ('Dude, Where’s My Ferret?', for which Åström won a Goldie Award for Best Musical Score in 2016).
Åström has recently scored the hit TV show ‘Make Your Mark’ for APT, written additional music for the hugely popular ’Dishonored’ video game franchise, and worked with Heitor Pereira on the animated blockbuster film ‘Angry Birds’. Current projects include ‘Internment’, an epic Albanian/American period piece drama, and the upcoming feature films ‘Eyes Upon Waking’ by Jennifer Scott (Hitch, 30 Rock), and ‘Mango Bajito’ that stars legendary actor Danny Trejo (Heat, Machete, Sons of Anarchy).
As a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist, Åström has also recorded and toured with several Grammy award-winning artists including Miss Li, Titiyo, and Glen Matlock from the legendary band The Sex Pistols. He currently resides and has his studio in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
